The influence of culture on Architecture
The debate of whether modern architecture is better than older and more traditional architecture is often reflective of ones' values and/ or sense of style. However, personally, I think modern architecture can be qualified as ¨better¨ because its simplicity means a more effective use of energy, an emphasis on what is useful and practical and the perfect opportunity to showcase technology. Why Modern architecture is best?

I appreciate simplicity and usefulness. An important principle of modern architecture is to ensure that everything has its purpose. There is only what is necessary. If there are decorations, they will remain simple and elegant. As you can see in the picure on the left, the inside of the home is vaste, and include very few details on walls, floors and layout. This proves that you do not need intricate details to bring out the architectural details of the building. Rather, the emphasis on simplicity is the best way to showcase the design. It is also can better accomodate a modern accomodation of technology.
The image on your right serves to illustrate how a busy decor (including several decorative and colourful ornamnets) can distract from the purity of the architecture of a building. In this case, the Chateau de Versaille was a simple square shaped room layout. The visitor is distracted from the simplicity of the architecture because its decor is not ¨modernised¨.

An other reason why I prefer modern architecture is because its simplicity can also be functional and practical. Modern buildings will also be meant to blend with its environment and make use of technology and energy saving methods. I believe mankind is meant to progress and integrate its genius as part of all its inventions. Architecture is a means to protect oneself. Why not keep beauty simple, as well as practical.
